R12.1 Technical and Functional Training
“If you are migrating to R12 you must take this class. The hands-on training and knowledge of the instructor is invaluable.” -Roland
Oracle E-Business Suite R11i to R12.1 Technical Upgrade
The R12 Upgrade class is 5 days long and starts with a Release 11.5.10.2 Vision Instance and upgrades that instance to Release 12.1. Basic concepts and downtime-reducing steps such as staging from the R12 DVDs are covered. The class size is usually limited to 4 to 6 students, and each student has a quad core Linux server to perform the upgrade. Minimizing downtime is a common theme throughout the R12 Upgrade class. Downtime-reducing techniques include merging patches, how to use a pre-patched staged Apps Tier, how to upgrade techstack components before the R12 Upgrade, adjusting the number of workers, using fast IO, and the benefits of snapshots. The key to this class is learning how to do the technical upgrade cleanly and efficiently.
Prerequisites to this class include either being an Apps DBA or previously taken Oracle R11i/R12 Applications DBA Concepts and Administration, and a good knowledge of Linux/Unix.
